Saint Ann/Saint Brendan Collaborative Youth Choir
The mission of the Youth/Teen choir is to engage our youth and teens, their families and our parish in the rich musical and spiritual traditions of the Church, while developing our current musical liturgical environment in the parish.
The choir offers our young people a unique level of participation in our communal life; seeking to educate, inspire and nurture our worship and spiritual formation. It extends the traditions of worship and liturgical music of the ages uniquely into the twenty-first century.
Sunday, October 2 is our debut of the Saint Ann/Saint Brendan Collaborative Choir at Saint Ann Parish at the 10:30 A.M. mass. Please plan to be at mass at 10:15 A.M. in the choir loft. Rehearsal on Thursday will be at 4:00 P.M. in the Saint Brendan School Music Room. The Thursday evening rehearsals have been discontinued.We are hoping to attract as many participants as possible with our new proposed schedule. Students may choose to attend one or both rehearsals. Please note: We will now conduct two separate rehearsals at each school location.
We will have rehearsal afterschool at Saint Ann/Neponset campus 239 Neponset Ave., Dorchester on Tuesdaysfrom 2:30 P.M. to 3:30 P.M. for our SJP Neponset campus, Murphy School and other home school, private, and public school children (N.B. no rehearsal on voting days).
We will have rehearsal at Saint Brendan School Rita Road, Dorchester on Thursdays at 4:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. for Saint Brendan School, and other home school, private and public schools.
Saint Ann Adult Choir
The Saint Ann Parish Adult Choir serves as leaders of song at the traditional 5:00 P.M. mass on Saturdays. Choir members share their faith in song and rehearse on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 P.M. -8:00 P.M. in the church. They serve in music ministry at the Parish liturgies from September through Pentecost. The Saint Ann Adult Choir will resume on Tuesday evening, September 16 at 6:30 P.M. at the school in the music room. New members are encouraged to join the choir family!
Neighborhood Children’s Theatre, Inc. at St. Ann Parish, Dorchesterdirected byMrs. Michelle McCourt, is for children, ages 7-18 who like to sing, dance and act. NCT class/rehearsal will be conducted Tuesdays from 3:30 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. in the Music Room at Saint Ann Parish Hall/Saint John Paul Catholic Academy Auditorium beginning Tuesday, September 20. (N.B. More rehearsals may be necessary before major productions.)
NCT will present no more than 10 holiday concerts between Columbus Day and Christmas including concerts in senior homes, tree-lighting and Church Christmas parties. NCT will present ourMajor Broadway Musical Productionduring April vacation. We are also considering a possible production of GODSPELL in January. Members of NCT will travel on an optional concert-tour during Februaryvacation. We have a proposal for an NYC concert-tour in February. We are also considering Disneyland in California, and Ireland. More information will follow.
Students must have a red polo uniform shirt with their first name on the front and “Boston” on the back (1 ½ in. white letters) for performances, obtainable at Super-Flash T-shirts,1731 Centre St. West Roxbury (Ask for Chuck 617-323-9374.). Students must wear navy uniform pants and white sneakers.
Students must be registered to attend rehearsals. Annual Registration membership, September through May, is $100 per child (with family discount for more than one child). Please fill out the registration form below and submit the form with a check to Neighborhood Children’s Theatre and return it to Mrs. McCourt. The checks should be made payable to:Neighborhood Children’s Theatre of Boston, Inc. (a non-profit corporation), not Mrs. McCourt .
